Christian G-rated Online Gaming

I spent more than half of my adult life (I'm 75) in Christian ministry. Then God allowed circumstances to occur that left me fully disabled and spending almost all of my time inside my home. My life before this was about being God's vessel through which He could minister to others, so I had to pray asking Him how I was supposed to serve Him when I mostly had to stay home inside. His answer was clear and surprising. The world has many people who spend hours playing online computer games. My calling was to do as much as possible to be Christ's representative to those people. Now just like in the real world, there are places in the online world Christians need to stay away from. And just like in the real world, a Christian has to behave according to God's instructions in the Bible. If God says not to do it in the real world, then a Christian should not do it in the online world. So one must make sure they are not playing an online game that requires them to do what God says not to do in the real world. However there are several online games that a Christian can play and not do what God says not to do. Many online games are just different versions of real life. You can choose to be a bad person or a good person. You can choose to do good things or bad things. So in online games I choose to do the things God says to do in the Bible and not do the things God says not to do. Just like in the real world I am an example of, and a witness, concerning God, just as He wants Christians to be - the Light of the world and the salt of the earth. And the people playing the online games respond to me just as people respond to Christians in the real world. So there is opportunity to be God's vessel online just as there is in real life. But there is a desperate need for online games that Christian children can play, free of the threat of being influenced to be bad instead of good. So I pray that Christian computer experts and professionals make good computer online games that are safe for Christian children.

Several great, commercial online games allow us to play the game on our own servers and modify them. I am doing this to make G-rated games that do not allow lewd, rude, crude, or nude behavior, and are as free as possible of offensive content. This does not mean people can't act that way, it means I can ban them from the game for such behavior. This is a work in progress so the specific server names and ip addresses may change as I work to find server rental companies that are dependable and work well. Some seem to be working until the problems with them show up and then I have to change servers. So you should come back to this page to see if anything has changed if what you have been doing no longer works - you will understand what I mean concerning the terms "server name" and "ip address" after reading all of this page. I welcome constructive suggestions. Remember that, as with everything, you need yourself, or someone you trust to check even my version of the game before letting your child play it, so you can make sure it is appropriate for their age, and to make sure they are only playing my version of the game.  Otherwise they can easily end up playing the versions of the game that have content that is a bad influence. I make my versions of the games for the purpose of giving you something your child shares with you or someone you trust.

Email me at Christowned@gmail.com if you have a question.

If you want to know about me and my standards go to my website by clicking on this link Christiandisciple.org (or type Christiandisciple.org in the address bar of your internet browser). If you would like to watch a video explaining why and how a Christian can play online games, go to You Tube and search for John Roy Frazer. Click on "video" and watch one  that has "Christian" or "Christianity" in their title.

The Ark: Survival Evolved server I describe below cost rental fees which, while I can, I am happy to pay to provide you with what I have described above. It is for anyone who is willing to abide by the server rules to keep them G-rated so there is no password required. You can just follow the instructions to join it as described below without contacting me. I can get another server for those who would rather only play with other Christians, and it will be password protected. If you would like to take advantage of my offer for that one then email at Christowned@gmail.com to get the password. I do my best to keep all G-rated as described above. Also if you want to rent your own server I am glad to help you in any way I can.

I went on the Internet from my pc and created an account on Steam, which is a free gaming platform where one can purchase, install, manage, and launch their games https://store.steampowered.com.  That is where I purchased "Ark: Survival Evolved". After purchasing the pc version of the game from Steam and installing it on your computer,  and also getting the "Lost Island" free DLC from the same place in the Steam store you got "Ark: Survival Evolved", and installing them, you can play my version by launching your Steam account on your pc, then clicking  on the game where it is listed in your Steam game library - you can get to your library by clicking on "Library" at the upper left of  the Steam page. The game will launch on your pc. Click on Join Ark (you can ignore the ARK NEWS, etc. as that information does not all apply to my games). NOTE: There are 2 ways to join my games so I recommend reading the following, but keep in mind that the second way to join my games is below my first set of instructions, and is easier in my opinion; but also may not make sense until you've read the first set of instructions. So if you are not understanding the first set of instructions that have the pictures, don't give up. Read the second set of instructions at the bottom and they will probably make sense. Once you have joined the game for the first time, it will be easy joining it to play again.

Go to the Session Filter at the bottom left under the server list (illustrated below), click on the little down arrow like mark in the box just right of "Session Filter", choose "unofficial" from the list that shows when clicking on the down arrow like mark, then go to the Name Filter box above the list. To play the game that is not password protected type "EKTHOS" (minus the quotation marks) into the box. NOTICE THE NAME YOU TYPE IN IS DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE SHOW IN THE ILLUSTRATION. Make sure ALL MAPS is in the MAP box and PVE is in the GAME MODE box. After a time of searching, the game will show up on the list. Every so often the game may not show up because of server maintenance, or a game update. In this case you have to give the people I rent the server from, time to do this. I keep a watch on how long the server is off and if it is off for too long, I submit a problem ticket so the people can fix it. It usually does not take long. When it shows up on the list, click on it to highlight it, then click on the ADD TO FAVORITES BOX at the bottom so you can easily get back to the game once you have left it, and finally click JOIN at the bottom of the page. When you click JOIN, the game will load either taking you to a character creation screen or to where your already created character is in the game.  AGAIN PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NAMES SHOWN BELOW IN THE NAME FILTER BOXS ARE NOT THE NAMES I HAVE INSTRUCTED YOU TO PUT THERE. USE THE NAME I HAVE INSTRUCTED YOU TO USE INSTEAD OF THE NAMES PICTURED. If you are having any problems feel free to email me at Christowned@gmail.com. NOTE: at the bottom of this page is another way to get to my server so read that if you think it might be an easier way.

Because you clicked the ADD TO FAVORITES box, now when you want to go back to the game once you have left it, instead of choosing "UNOFFICIAL" at the bottom left of the server list like you did when you first searched, now just choose "FAVORITES", or "MY SURVIVORS" and the game will show up (not the names shown in the example picture below) so you can click on it and JOIN.

Another way to get to my server is to login to Steam, then at the top left of the Steam page there is the small word "view". Click on it and a menu shows up. Click on the word "servers" ("Game Servers" in the latest version). A box will show up. At the top of the box click on the tab "Favorites". At the bottom right side of the box click on "ADD A SERVER" (or the plus sign at the bottom of the box on the latest version). Another box will open where you can type in my server ip address which is "174.138.175.106:7777" (without the quotes) for the EKTHOS server. Once you type in the address you have chosen then click the ADD THIS ADDRESS TO FAVORITES button.  Now when you click on JOIN ARK on Steam and then click on FAVORITES at SESSION FILTER at the bottom left of the server list page, my game will be there and you can click on it and click JOIN at the bottom of that page. I will give you the ip address for the Christians only server when you ask for the password to play on it by emailing me. Again you can always email me at Christowned@gmail.com if you want help or have a constructive suggestion.16
